The ball valve technology sector has recently made substantive progress in sealing materials, intelligent control, and standards, with applications accelerating from traditional industry into high-end scenarios such as hydrogen energy, deep-sea drilling, and pumped storage.
Targeted breakthroughs have been made in sealing under hydrogen service conditions. Hydrogen molecules permeate easily, and high pressure can cause hydrogen embrittlement, posing severe challenges to ball valve sealing reliability. A newly granted invention patent shows that hydrogen-embrittlement-resistant specialty alloys combined with special heat treatment can effectively inhibit material degradation. An adaptive sealing mechanism automatically adjusts sealing specific pressure according to medium pressure fluctuations—tightening the seal as pressure rises and reducing wear as it falls—mechanically lowering the risk of leakage during opening and closing. This technical path offers a new engineering reference for valve selection in high-pressure hydrogen storage and refueling stations.
Intelligent control ball valves have achieved large-scale validation on offshore drilling platforms. For extreme conditions such as high wellhead pressure, severe corrosion, and strong vibration,
